Hubble Trouble Deal
A Canadian firm has been awarded the contract for 154 milli0n to send a robotic salvage operation to the Hubble telescope.

The awarding of the HST contract work is a milestone in a go/no go decision due next summer when NASA will decide whether or not to proceed with the observatory's servicing by robotic means.

The Canadian firm built the Canadarm -- the robotic arm technology often used on space shuttle missions. In addition, under government contract to the Canadian Space Agency, MD Robotics -- with the help of a Canada-wide industrial team --
developed the robotic systems that represent Canada's contribution to the International Space Station.

A Mobile Servicing System provides the ISS with sophisticated space-based robotics to assemble, transport, and maintain payloads in orbit, as well as help build and maintain the space station itself.

MDA is the same firm that built the Canadarm for the space shuttle..

Jimi Hendrix Rocks On In People's Warped Sense of Guitaristic Value
In my humble opinion, Jimi Hendrix is a great guitar player, but not because he pulls the best face when he goes for the difinitive high note or power chord; but a poll says that's what it is.
Hendrix received 24 percent of the 3,000 votes cast online by the public and a poll by some 20 celebrity judges. B.B. King captured 18 percent of the vote, followed by Angus Young of AC/DC with 16 percent. Gary Lucas, guitarist for Gods and Monsters, said he voted for Hendrix because he "channeled all the soulful ecstasy of the universe through his hands, and this was naturally mirrored in his face."

Oh the tragedy.
