Melky Update

Going Down Hill
Contrary to my prediction back in early May that Melky might be having a break out year, we're now seeing he's playing much worse than any time in his career excluding his ill-fated call-up.

He had a great April when I gushed about him, but since then he's hit like crap. His line for the year is now .240/.305/.345 which translates to an OPS+ of 75.
So much for predictions of a break out.

A quick look at his BABIP shows that he's at .250, which is pretty low. He's about.50 shy on his previous years, which is league average; so he's probably hitting as good as a .290 Avg. - but just unlucky.

His Isolated power has dropped back to career norms in the last 2 months.

Worst of all, his BB/K ratio has fallen back to where he was last year. So much for the promising start. He is also hitting a lot more fly balls, .but hitting about the same LD%.
A quick assessment says he probably should stop trying to loft the ball. It's not helping him any.
